Cinema Architects

Cinema Architects Vereeniging specializes in the planning, design, supply, installation, integration, concealment and control of automated electronic systems for the modern, intelligent home.

Our relentless quest to bring the live-performance of sound and image into the realm of high-end audio and video, dates back almost four decades. It was a journey that would lead us to every corner of the world in search of the best technology, finest materials and boldest engineering ideas.

Setting no time line and sparing no expense, we see to it that every detail is attended to, every innovative idea is pursued and every expectation is surpassed. Time and again, we return to the drawing board to push the boundaries of sound, video, style and technology as never before.  Finally, after nearly four decades refusing to compromise on any facet or lower our standards within the slightest degree, Cinema Architects Vereeniging  won the CEDIA International Award that was held at Hampton court, London, for the Best Home Cinema under £40000  in 2012. In 2013 we were also awarded second place in the same category, being the only South African company nominated as a finalist. In 2014 we were invited to participate in the Design Et al International Design & Architecture Awards in which we are proud to announce that we have been shortlisted as a finalist in the home cinema category. Then in 2016, two of our entries made it all the way to the Top Five CEDIA Awards again, for Best Home Cinema Under £40 000 & Best Home Cinema £40 000 - £100 000.

The CEDIA Awards was established in 2006, the prestigious CEDIA Awards celebrate excellence in home technology design, installation and integration across the EMEA region (the UK, Europe, Africa, the CIS, the Middle East, India and Pakistan). Setting the standard for industry professionals across CEDIA EMEA, these stunning projects are the crème de la crème of smart home installations.

The Design Et al International Design & Architecture Awards’ aim is to commend design, recognize talent, create opportunities and quite simply to offer inspiration.

Cinema Architects has the rare distinction of employing the only five South Africans accredited to the international Home Acoustic Alliance (HAA). Of those five, two are women – the only females worldwide that are HAA-qualified. Letitia Lourens is the company’s electronic architect, while Riana Kriek is the interior cinema designer, who also acts as liaison between Cinema Architects, interior architects and designers. Riana’s HAA qualification allows her to bridge the gap between the art of the interior design, and the technical know-how required to ensure the home cinema sounds and operates to the same high standard as the aesthetic design.

This allows the Cinema Architects team to initially conceptualize and design a technically correct home theatre, and to then add in the aesthetic elements and requirements without the cosmetics getting in the way of the theatre’s functionality.

Cinema Architects is also the importer and distributor of Genelec active loudspeakers, and is accredited to design, install and calibrate Genelec loudspeaker systems, following two weeks of intensive training at the Genelec Headquarters in Finland.
